It’s official – The Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program is here! The program starts July 1st 2025 which provides a ~30% discount on eligible batteries.
The $2.3 billion program significantly reduces the cost of a battery and is also not means tested. This makes the rebate available to all homeowners or businesses.
The rebates will range from $3,200 to $17,500 depending on the size of the battery and how much usable capacity it has. There has never been a better time to reduce your energy bill day and night, along with having back up power for the next cyclone season.
Here’s the details:
- $2.3 Billion Government Program
- Battery must be installed to a Solar System (new or existing)
- The Battery must be Virtual Power Plant (VPP) capable
- Only one rebate can be claimed per household
- The rebate is based on the existing Solar STC program
- Solar battery rebate reduces January 1st each year, and ends in 2030 or when the fund is over
