Significant Increases in your Power Bill Coming July 1st for Regional Queensland

  • 4th April, 2023
Power bill increasing

The Queensland Competition Authority (QCA) has recently put forward their draft determination for Regulated Retail Electricity prices in Regional Queensland 2023-24.

As predicted the prices are significant.

Residential Tariff 11 – has a huge increase of 37.5%. This is the normal tariff that our homes operate on. For the average family with 2 children, (without Solar) we estimate that your power bill will increase from $3,200 per year to $4,400.

Small Business Tariff 20 – has an increase of 32.14%. This tariff is what most of the small businesses are on in Regional Queensland. For a small business using approximately 35MWH a year we estimate the bill to go from $9,800 per year to $12,949. For a larger business (but still classed as a small user) that is using 90MWH a year it will go from $25,200 per year to $33,299.

Large Business Tariff 44 – has an increase of 20.37%. This tariff is used by businesses with large demands. For example, Farmers, Shopping Centres, Pubs and Motels. For a business using approximately 150MWH a year we estimate the bill to go from $24,300 per year to $29,249. Now this is for the energy used only. This does not include the daily service fee of $46.9 and demand charges of $28 / KW/ Month

Solar Feed in Tariff 38.7% Increase.

For our customers with Solar Systems, there is some great news with the Feed-in-Tariff going from 9.3 cents a KWh to 12.9 cents a KWh. For our customers such as Farmers that do seasonal pumping or businesses that only operate 5 – 6 days a week this is exceptional news. For our Homeowners, this is just terrific news.

Take Control of your Energy Future

We are looking down the barrel of extremely high Electricity Prices. You need to look at all the ways you can reduce your energy usage. However, going Solar is still by far the number one way to reduce your energy bill.

For our residential customers who don’t have solar, we have so many options for you here.

Business Customers you don’t have to pay for a Solar System with our Solar Power Purchase Agreements. We will fund a Solar System for your roof with energy rates as low as 14 cents a KWH instead of you paying 37 cents a KWH with Ergon for your daytime power. This is a reduction of 62%.

We have helped hundreds of businesses reduce their power bills this way, and they have not had to spend any capital to do it.
