Horan & Bird are very excited to be launching a new Virtual Power Plant (VPP). Virtual Power Plants are a critical solution for the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) to keep the electricity grid stable during events of high demand and fluctuations in grid frequencies (FCAS).
A Virtual Power Plant is the grids defence to keeping the lights on and keeping the high costs of electricity down during events. Electricity surges and spikes are generally caused by sudden large voltage increases in the electricity network from storms and grid failures. Thousands of local home batteries joined in a Virtual Power Plant can provide a fast injection of energy to manage supply and demand.
